Planning
Today for a Better Tomorrow The Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO), a partnership of Chino Valley, City of Prescott, Prescott Valley, Yavapai County and the Arizona Department of Transportation, was established in June 2003 by federal mandate when the region achieved a population of 50,000. Its purpose is to cooperatively plan the transportation future of the Central Yavapai region that falls within the 401.46 square miles of the MPO Planning Boundary. Through this cooperative effort, the participating agencies have made a commitment to their citizens that as the region grows, their multi-modal transportation system will grow with it to accommodate all needs, including roads and highways for cars and trucks, public transit, and pathways for bicycles and pedestrians. *CYMPO Featured Projects, Plans & Studies* TRANSIT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN On April 17, 2008, the CYMPO Transit Implementation Plan will commence at the "Kick-Off" work session held at the Prescott Valley Town Hall Training Room at 9:00 AM where the Transit TAC members and the consultant, TransitPlus, will review and discuss the approved Scope of Work, updated work schedule, updated budget and deliverables. This meeting is open to the general public, but participation is limited to the T-TAC members, consultant and CYMPO staff only. REGIONAL PLANS, STUDIES & PROJECTS: CORRIDOR STUDIES: SR169 Connector to FAIN ROAD and Chino Valley Bypass The Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO) adopted the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (2030 Plan) in December of 2006. Within this long range plan, potential corridors were identified for future study. At the January 2007 meeting, the CYMPO Executive Board directed a technical group to identify and prioritize potential corridor studies. The Corridor Studies Working Group convened and the outcome was that of two corridors settling in the top tier.
The Board approved these two corridors to be studied concurrently. These studies should assist CYMPO with information that may lead to, but not be limited to, the study of a future alignment. The studies are to be conducted at a "planning level" as a precursor to possible design concept reports to be conducted later. For more information.
GREAT WESTERN ROAD STUDY On March 19, 2008, a Great Western Road Study was presented to the CYMPO Executive Board. View the Presentation. For comments and questions contact Yavapai County.
CENTRAL YAVAPAI REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COORDINATION PLAN On April 16, 2008, the CYMPO Executive Board accepted the 2008 Central Yavapai Regional Transportation Coordination Plan prepared by the CYMPO staff and local transportation providers for submission to the Arizona Department of Transportation on April 18, 2008. All transportation providers who wish to submit grant applications for Programs 5310 (Elderly Individuals and Individuals with Disabilities Transportation Program), 5316 (Job Access & Reverse Commute), and 5317 (New Freedom Program) must be included in this Plan. At their December 6, 2007 Board meeting, the CYMPO Executive Board reviewed a State Developable Land Map prepared by the Yavapai County Public Works staff in conjunction with discussing the I-17 Alternatives Study. View the State Developable Land Map. The I-17 Alternatives Study presentation, provided by Stephen Martin, HDR, ADOT Consultant , overviewed three basic issues: (1) Increasing congestion on I-17, (2) Decreasing reliability on I-17, and (3) General long-term safety of the corridor. Feasible alternatives to address these needs will be examined in this high-level, long-term study with a 50-year horizon. The presentation is available at:
